Multi modal transport study

Multi modal transport study

What did we find?

The results identified the role of improvements to highway and underground networks and further testing options. The study included the testing of the future situation with the redevelopment of sites as part of the regeneration masterplan also. Results indicated that there would be severe congestion in certain locations in 2021 but that this was not entirely caused by redevelopment. Passing through traffic factors are important to recognise, Rotherhithe tunnel is a major source of congestion and there is limited spare capacity on tube network. This illustrates how useful the model is, as our plans will be produced addressing all transport issues in our development planning.

Work in progress

We are now considering a funding package and the next testing measures to develop a sustainable transport strategy. We are also using the results to inform our Area Action Planning (AAP) process and to ensure all developers and planners use the model too to ensure all development and transport issues are considered appropriately.
