Site B
Construction of Site B1 (Toronto House); and Site B2 (Montreal House) is now complete and occupied.
Background
Site B will be a new vibrant heart for the area centring on a new civic square. Cafes and shops will sit around the centre of the site - a fantastic new library facing out to the water.
More affordable housing will be added, along with direct and accessible connections between the old and new neighbourhoods.
Site B1
Further to the development agreement between the Southwark Council, BL Canada Quays and Barratt Homes, the proposed development at Site B1 will be the first residential phase within Canada Water Sites A and B.
In January 2008 the proposals for B1 got the green light at Southwark Council's planning committee.
The mixed use scheme has been designed by PKS Architects and will consist of:
- 63 residential units, 21 of which will be affordable units
- Retail and commercial units on the ground floor
- Ensuring 10 per cent of energy is renewable (that's twice the guidelines)
- Creating an eco-roof on the building
- A children's play area within the site
Consultation in December last year found that over 90 per cent of local people were in favour of the plans, and rated the plans as either good or very good.

- 169 residential units, 43 of which will be affordable units

- Achieving Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4
- A central energy centre for Sites A and B comprising CHP and bio-mass boiler
- New landscaping linking in with the childrens playground on B1
