B2 gets a green light
22 December 2008
Southwark Council's Planning Committee on the 2nd December 2008 gave a resolution to grant planning consent on the second building in the Canada Water scheme to be brought forward. The entire scheme being developed by the council, partner British Land Canada Quays (BLCQ) and Barratt Homes also includes a stunningly-designed library, a civic plaza, leisure facilities, shops and green space. The mixed use scheme has been designed by PKS Architects and will consist of:
- 169 residential units, 43 of which will be affordable units
- 10% disabled units
- New retail units on the ground floor for restaurants and cafes which will face onto the new civic plaza
- New landscaping linking in with the children's playground
- Consultation in September - November 2008 found that over 90 per cent of local people were in favour of the plans, and rated the plans as either good or very good.
